Buprestidae: Euchroma Gigantae
Created by US artist Mike Libby, creator of the Insect Lab.
Based apon thinking how an insect operated and looked like a mechanical device. Mike then decided to combine the two. After some time dissecting and outfitting it with vintage watch parts and gears, he has created these sculptures. The insects are sourced from all over the world including Africa, China, New Guinea, Brazil and the USA. A fusion of biological and man-made mechanics.
